Gmail is so cool

For all my techy (or not so techy) friends read this article! If you have a gmail account this is really sweet.

In breif it's saying that if you take my email address:
kristen.jovle@gmail.com

it's the same as:
kristenjovle@gmail.com or
k.r.i.s.t.e.n.j.o.v.l.e@gmail.com

You can add the periods wherever you want. Also you can use the "+" sign onto your address to help filter your emails. So say I'm on Amazon placing an order. I give them this email address:
kristen.jovle+amazon@gmail.com

Then I can set up a filter in my gmail to always look for that address and do whatever I want to filter it. So cool. I love Google!

6 months

Sienna,
Half a year has gone by so fast and it's been so fun to see how much you have changed. Every new development seems to happen overnight. One day you are sitting in the Boppy falling over and the next day you can hold yourself perfectly steady. You love being able to sit up, play with your toys, and see a new perspective of the world. You also have a new found love of your tummy. No, still not during tummy time but when you sleep. As soon as you mastered rolling over you started to do it in your crib and haven't stopped since. I, of course, was quite nervous the first few nights you slept that way. But you were fine, as everyone said you would be, and have started sleeping so much better because of it. You have also found your thumb and use it to sooth yourself. It's not all the time but it's definitely becoming more frequent.

We are still waiting on your teeth. Babhita is convinced they will be coming soon but Dr. Judi said she thought it was going to be awhile. You continue to chomp down on anything within grabbing reach.

You are already just like your Mom and have to be around people at all times. Whenever Dad or I walk away from you, you start to whine or cry. I can imagine as soon as you figure out crawling we will have a little follower.

Another first for this month - trying foods.

Starting Solids

I have been so excited to give Sienna her first foods. Ever since she started showing an interest in food I've been itching to whip up some baby food. I put my patience hat on and waited until she was 6 months.

On Sienna's 6 month birthday (ok actually the night before, my patience hat was gone by then) we started the solids. Before this, we had given her a sweet potato and avocado to mash up and get a few tastes, but this was her first time with pureed food and a spoon. Because of Justin's food allergies and the potential for Sienna to follow in his footsteps, we are skipping all grains and going right into the veggies and fruits. We'll come back to grains when she's a little older. I am hoping to be able make most of her baby food. As we are testing what she likes it's easy enough to make a small batch for her and let us eat the rest (minus the pureeing). This should also help us incorporate more veggies in our diet - or at least some different ones than our usuals. Win win!

Avocados were the first on the list to try. I've heard such great things about how good they are for babies. Unfortunately I don't think Sienna is a big fan. Check out her faces.



Next on the list is potatoes. Hopefully she will likes these better. They will be great for mixing up with some of the other veggies to ease their flavor. So fun! I'll be back with updates soon.

Chattering

This week Sienna has become quite chatty. So chatty that at 3 am last night she thought it'd be really fun to talk to the sheep in her crib very LOUDLY. She would intermittently cry but for the most part it was just chatter. (Not funny at the time but it is now) It's fun to see how her language is starting to develop. She's moving beyond the screeches and raspberries and starting to form new sounds. I am looking forward to the day when dada and mama come out of her mouth.

Trying so hard

...for it to be spring. Obviously this was taken before this last big snowfall. Conner has been going stir crazy in the house so we thought we'd try some family time outside playing catch. I think Conner is the only one who had fun. It was cold!!! It was a good excuse to see a cute baby in her snowsuit. We haven't used it too much otherwise.

I feel old...

Yesterday was the first official day of my birthday week beginning. I used to get really excited about my birthday but this year there is nothing. I even forgot it was coming up until yesterday. I think after 30 all the fun milestone birthdays have been hit and from here on out you just sound old.

Don't feel too bad for me though. Even without my usual zest I have still managed to plan a fun week. I kicked it off last night with a K cubed dinner. Saturday we have cooking club, Sunday we're going to Fogo de Chao for restaurant week with the Eids, and Monday night the fam is heading over to Mom's. That's still probably more celebrating that most people do! :) 31 here we come. Or is it 29B?
