Sandy Lake Weekend
Last weekend we had our annual trip up to the Eid cabin on Sandy Lake. It was even more significant since it was my first weekend away from my baby! 2 nights, 3 days of sun, relaxing, lots of food and all adult conversation? Sign me up! In typical Sandy Lake fashion the weekend didn't go quite as planned. We notoriously have horrible weather every year. It's pretty much expected that it'll be cold or rainy or both. This year was no different. Friday was beautiful and we got to enjoy some lake time in the raft and had probably our best dinner ever - fish fry with walleye that Brent caught in Canada. Delish!
And then Saturday came. We woke up to rain and a sky so cloudy we thought there was no way it was going to clear. No big deal, we had a backup rain plan all set up. We headed into town for coffee and then we were off to see the new Harry Potter [loved it!] On the way to the movie my phone rang. It was my mom. I knew something must be wrong if she was calling. She informed me that Sienna was really sick with a 102 fever. My mom insisted that she and Sienna were just fine and all she wanted to know was how much medicine to give her. Oh my poor little baby. I was so torn and felt bad but decided to see how the rest of her day went before going to get her. After about my 5th call, Sienna's temp had come down a lot and Ron got on the phone to tell me to enjoy my vacation. Hint taken.
Despite the rain and sick baby we still had a great time. It's always such fun to get away and enjoy time with friends. The most important part...I got to try my smores with peanut butter cups!!! They were awesome and worth the wait.
Boys will always be boys.
I think I was having too much fun to take many pictures so that's all you get. Thanks so much to my parents for watching Sienna and taking such good care of her. (sorry you are now sick)

Thought for the day
Every time I walk outside in this heat, the memories of last summer come pouring back - me waddling along trying to get out of the sun as fast as I can without getting too warm. It makes me so thankful to not be pregnant. And then this little twinge starts to creep up. One I never thought I'd have. I miss feeling the hard bump of a pregnant belly, of pressing on it and having the little person you are so excited to meet kick back. I miss all of the strangers smiles, questions, and friendliness. Maybe being pregnant wasn't all bad...

Changes
Signs of change and toddlerhood are fast approaching. This past week we've been dealing with all sorts of them. The first was teething. I can't imagine it's a fun process to go though. Poor little girl has had every symptom in the book but overall she's still her smiley happy self. The first tooth poked through 2 weeks ago Tuesday and the seond one is about to make it's debut any day. In addition to the crankiness of teething, Sienna has also decided she thinks she'd too old for 2 naps a day. We've been struggling with her naps both at day care and at home. She would much rather stand in her crib and tell stories to Ted (the teddy bear). Are the two related? Maybe. But I see this morning nap going away sooner rather than later. And finally Sienna has crossed the threshold of the wood floors. No longer is any room (or animal) safe in the house. One night while Justin was making dinner Sienna followed him around the kitchen, over the doorway to the sunroom, out on the deck, and beelined for the stairs. She's keeping us on our toes to say the least.
Justin's in Orlando for work for a few days. Can you believe the weather there is actually cooler than here? That's a little ridic. Sienna and I tried to beat the heat Saturday night at my parents. She took a little dip in a pool that Nana couldn't resist buying.
Keep Cool!!!

4th of July Weekend
I finally got all my pictures uploaded from last weekend. There were too many cute pictures to put up so a slideshow will have to do!
I took a photography class a few weeks ago so I've really been trying to play around with my camera. I'm starting to get some of the shots I want but it's so hard with how quick kids move! It seems like when I actually get a shot with the right lighting and the right parts in focus, then the person I want has their eyes shut! I'll keep working on it...Notice any improvements yet?

Bad Deer!
I was so excited with my garden after seeing yesterday's crop. Today Justin went out to pick the rest of the cherry tomatoes for our lunch and came back empty handed with bad news. He thinks deer have gotten into the garden. They ate the tops off all of my precious edamame plants and sucked off all the ripe tomatoes. I'm crushed!!! I don't know what to do now. Any advice? Will the edamame grow back? Is it too late to try and replant? So disappointing... And how do I stop them from coming back!?

First crop of the season!
We finally got a decent batch of peas this year. We moved them from the big garden to the small one which seems to have worked!

Sporting the shades
How has this week gone by so fast?! I have a camera full of pictures from our fun weekend but have yet to have any time to get them uploaded. Cran sent me a little day brightener that she took Monday and I had to share. (she of course ripped them off .002 nanoseconds later) Glad those cameras are quick!
