20 Questions

I came up with a list of 20 questions to ask the kids every year on their birthdays. I tried to do this last year with Sienna but there's a reason why they say to start it at 3 and not 2. (It was a big fail) This year, I was very impressed she focused so long and answered all my questions. I'm sure if I asked her them again today most of the answer would be different but still fun!

3!!!

Sienna,
How did you get to be 3 already? It sounds so old and you act every bit of it. I read a blog where they called it "threeanger." Every time we have to wake you up in the morning as you moan for us to turn the lights off and yell that you don't want to get up, I picture you (and myself) as a teenager. You still have a very sweet and empathetic personality with a bit a sass thrown in. And you are the ultimate charmer. You charm the pants off everyone we meet from the cashier at Target to the pastor at Kensi's baptism. Your charming skills also brings on lots of negotiating. Your Daddy is convinced you will be in sales someday. If you don't like our answer, you will think of another way to get what you want. You are extremely articulate for your age and I love the things that come out of your month. One of  my favorites, "Mommy, I have a GREAT idea!!" and then you either repeat something I just suggested or come up with a new idea and giggle afterwards. My other favorite is whenever you want to cuddle you ask us to, "Nuggle" with you. You are such a cuddler too. I love it.

You also love to sing. It started with "I like to move it, move it" from Madagascar. Then it turned into normal kids songs like ABCs, Ring Around the Rosey, and now you sing about everything and anything. The other day you sang, "Look both ways when you cross the street! Take an adults hand." over and over and over again.

Some of your other favorite things to do:
Dancing and watching your dance recital video, while dancing to all the songs.
Playing dress up
Riding your trike
Reading books - you are especially into your Tinkerbell and Friends books set
Wearing dresses and skirts

Becoming 3 also means big changes. We took the railings off your bed and made it into a princess tent. You were pretty hesitant to take those sides off, convinced that you would fall out of bed. We had to talk it up for a few weeks before you turned 3. It also means you are starting preschool! You are leaving Bita's and going to a full time preschool. You are very very excited to go to school, although a little disappointed that you don't get to take the bus there. You start in a couple weeks and I'm sure that will be a post in and of itself. You are fully potty trained now and only wear pull ups at night and sometime for nap.

new really big girl bed

As much as Daddy as tried to stop this, your teething toothbrush has become one of your favorite loveys. Before you go to sleep every night you line up all of your friends in their certain spots. If anyone is missing we have to go searching to find where Conner relocated them. Daddy and I have both tried to remove toothbrush from your bed but no such luck. You spot that he's (yes toothbrush is a he) missing right away.

You, toothbrush and another favorite book - Green Eggs & Ham

To no surprise you are still on the petite side. We got your official Drs measurements
Weight: 28 lbs - 21%
Height: 35.3 inches - 13%

Happy 3rd Birthday my Sweetie! We love you so much.

7 Months

Kensi,
My busy, busy sweet, smiley girl. You've had a big month and accomplished a lot! I see my little baby fleeing before my eyes. You fully mastered sitting on your own, started saying Dada and Baba, and are getting super close to crawling. You are skipping the army crawl and are going straight for the real thing. Right now you get up on your knees and rock back and forth but haven't quite figured out how to move forward. I have a feeling you are going to be fast once you start. Time to really baby proof!

Ready to go - so close!

You are really loving foods and prefer real solids to the purees. We still haven't found anything you like better than guacamole. You've tried almost all the fruits and vegetables and have now started on dairy. You loved yogurt but are not so sure about cottage cheese.

You finally love your tummy sleeping as much as side sleeping. You also love having your arms or shirt/dress cuddled up around your face. I think when you find a lovey, it'll be all snuggled around your head. A few of your other favorites - playing peek-a-boo, listening to anyone sing, and anything Sienna is playing with.

Such long legs!

I actually got a couple cute ones of them both!!!

I didn't measure thing month. You are still long but feel like you are gaining more weight too. Maybe your weight will catch up to your height.

Is one good family photo too much to ask for?

Kensi and Christopher were baptized last weekend. It was a beautiful day out and I was determined to get some good family photos. So silly of me to think that was possible... Kensi is at that really photogenic age where they will sit and smile at anything. Easy enough! Sienna on the other hand won't sit still for a nano second and if she does smile she'll be giving you a side eye. Here's a few of my favorite takes.

This one turned out pretty decent minus the fact that Kensi looks like a ghost baby. It's a bit scary! Maybe one of our past relatives was trying to give us a sign that they were with us.

I was able to edit it up and give her a little color. This was prob the best of the day.

4 adults and 4 kids all smiling and looking at the camera? Pipe dream!! I think we got everyone looking at least.

Sadly this might be the best shot I got of the 2 of them.

This is my favorite of the day and represents my life. Kensi with a big fat pouty lip cause Mom isn't holding her and Sienna giving her class silly face.

Alright a few did turn out. Of course the best one of her my camera had crappy lighting. Looks pretty decent black and white.

One more good one.

I'm still hopeful we might get a good one this weekend with Sienna's birthday. Fingers crossed!

A Few Significant Moments

Summer is still flying by. We've been enjoying every moment we can and had a few moments that had to be recorded.

Kensi is my new cooking helping. She's a little easier to entertain than Sienna. Wooden spoon and a couple of measuring cups and she's good.

Sienna takes after her mom [again] by loving her green beans and vinaigrette.  We have family friends whose favorite story to tell is of me when I was about Sienna's age. My Mom and I had dinner over at their house and they were serving greens beans. Once I saw what we were having, I immediately asked where the vinaigrette was. High maintenance at 3.

We went to our first (and probably only) parade for the year. Met the Moehrings at the Prior Lake Lakefront Days Parade. Perfect size for the kids to get right up close and get lots of candy.

Justin and I got to take Sienna to her first movie in the big theater. We saw Planes and she loved it. Especially the unlimited amounts of popcorn.
