Whose That Baby?

Kensi's discovered her new best friend. She loves that baby in the mirror. She's so nice. She's full of big smiles and always has so much to say. I think they could chat all day.

2 Months

Kensi,
2 months already, although I'd say you look and act at least like a 3 month old. So advanced for your age. ;) You are still sleeping great and giving us a consistent 8-10 hours a night. I am sure hoping that continues when I have to go back to work! You have really become a Mama's girl. I am the only one who can always calm you down. Every time you see me there are instant big smiles and coos even if you were just crying. You are really finding your voice and are making the sweetest sounds. And your huge gummy open mouth grins are heart melting. I caught a bunch of them on camera this time but when you smile you also close one eye and move your whole head. It made for a lot of blurry pictures. Cute but blurry.

Your head control is getting better and you actually don't mind your tummy time. I put you in the Bumbo a couple times a day and you've been getting stronger with keeping yourself upright in it.

During the past month you have become a bit more particular about what/who you want and will let everyone know about it until we figure out what it is. You have your peak fussiness at night. I think we are over the hump and it's getting better. You are definitely resembling your Dad more and more and you've grown so much! You were around the 90% for both height and weight this time. We are transitioning into 3-6 month clothes already.

Official measurements:
Height: 24 inches
Weight: 12 lbs 13 oz

Whose who?

This post might be the first of many. Same age, same Bumbo chair, similar outfit...I tried to get the same pose but Kensi wasn't cooperating. What do you think? Do they look alike?

Rockstar

Sienna's new passion has become singing but only if it's into a microphone. We discovered this one night while she was staying at my parents. They have a microphone that hooks into a guitar and out of nowhere she started performing for them, singing a song none of us have ever heard before. It goes something like this:
"I totally rock. Totally totally rockstar!" and repeats some version of that over and over. And then she makes you sing it into the microphone too. I've been trying to catch her moves on video, because of course she has some sassy hips and head shakes to go along with it. Here she is singing the song the other night sans sassy moves.

If anyone knows where this "totally rockstar" song is from I'd love to know! We're still clueless as to where she picked it up.

Cooking Club XIV

These cooking clubs numbers are getting so high that I'm going to have to start Googling how to do the Roman Numerals soon! The theme this time was The Best of Mardi Gras hosted by Cran and her new date Cari. The table setting included masks for everyone to wear and get into the spirit.

We started the night off sipping on hurricanes. Oh my were they delicious and went down way too easy.

Appetizer course was Crab Avery. It was very good with lots of spice! The recipe actually said to eat it with a spoon, but we all agreed it was better on crackers which added a nice crunch.

We all modeled our masks.

Cari was too busy baby tending to put hers on. Kensi made her first appearance at cooking club. She wasn't sure about the whole thing and was quite a fuss bucket that night. Why does she always act so much better in the evenings at home than when she is out?!

The main course was Boudreaux’s Zydeco Stomp Gumbo, Artichoke Bites, and Louisiana Fried Okra. The gumbo and okra were delicious! I will for sure make the gumbo again. We had a bit of a mishaps with the artichoke bites. Jeff and I were making that recipes. I was baby bouncing and calling out the amounts to Jeff, while he measured and put them in. Unfortunately the liquid smoke came out really fast. There was supposed to be only 1/2 teaspoon in the recipe and a really good dumping came out instead. All you could taste was a smokey flavor in the balls. We all took one bite of it and left the rest. I think they would've been really good if you had left the liquid smoke out all together.

A new rule was created that night. Anyone who royally screws up a recipe has to wear "The Serpent of Shame." Jeff was the lucky first one to follow the new rule.

Jeff and I redeemed ourselves though on the dessert. We fried up some Beingets that everyone loved. We gobbled up the whole tray. Cran & Jenny whipped up 2 sauces - raspberry and chocolate. Great way to end the night.

Birthday

It was my birthday last week. Another year older. Can't say they are very exciting after 30 but of course we still celebrated. The parties started at my Mom's the weekend before. Kensi was an angel for us and slept through the whole party except when she was eating.

Sienna is always excited for a birthday, especially when party hats are involved.

Ariana was not sure about wearing the hat. She took it off right after this picture.

Even I had to wear a hat for a little bit.

Both girls helped me unwrap my presents.

Grandpa, Nana, and the 3 kiddos. This was the best shot I could get until I learn how to Photoshop 3 photos together.

Ariana thought she should sit in the Bumbo and kept calling it the potty. We got a good laugh out of her in and out of it...and her half falling off that ledge while in the seat.

We had more celebrations. My actual birthday was spent with the 4 of us and the Eids at Water Park of America. Both of my cameras were out of batteries at the park, so you'll have to see Cran's post of the evening. The next evening we had a small celebration with cake (including candles insisted by Sienna) and presents at home where I got my camera lens!! I've been playing with it and look at the beautiful shots it takes!! No photo editing has been done on either of these.

Love it. Can't wait to keep practicing with it. The celebrations concluded with our first date night out since Kensi. We had a great time. Unfortunately Kensi was not as excited and decided to scream at my parents for almost the whole time we were out. Sorry! Luckily for us they were troopers and we didn't hear about it until we returned. Another fun birthday for the books.
