1 Day and Counting

It's almost here!! I am trying not to think too much about because then I get really giddy. Tomorrow a bunch of girls and I are going to see the premiere. The others that don't do summer hours, took the afternoon off of work so we can catch the early show. We're hoping to beat some of the rush, but I'm guessing we won't be the only ones with this idea. Plus this area is known for rich stay at home moms... Anyone want to guess how many [straight] men will be in the audience?? If anyone else wants to join, call or shoot me an email and I can give you the details of where and when to meet. I don't think the showing is sold out yet. SOOOOOOOOO EXCITED!!!!

Follow up

I've had a couple people ask me what a pudgy pie maker is, so here's a pic of it. Technically, I think it's called a pie iron. Makes wonderful sandwiches/pies!! A must have for all camping trips. Just ask the others I went with. They fell in love too.

I also forgot to give you my review of the aerobed. It was def the best air mattress I've tried. It stayed inflated all weekend and was pretty comfortable as far as air mattresses go. Worth the price!

One more thing. Today was the first day I finally used my bowl for breakfast instead of the Styrofoam cup. Worked out well, so now I gotta try and stick with it. Yeah for going greener!!

Camping Part II

Well, I'm back and I survived!!

There's so much I could say about the weekend. The weather was great minus sleeping Friday night. I was freezing!! We slept under 2 sleepings bags and 1 blanket. In order to stay warm, we kept our heads under the blankets. I still put a sweatshirt on in the middle of the night with the hood up. Had a small storm Sat. during the night and some spotty showers on Sunday but the bad stuff all stayed away. I think we lucked out! We still came back Sunday evening. The weather looked like it was going to turn bad, so we quickly packed up all of our things. Of course by the time we were finished the sun was shining and there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Oh well, I was ready for my comfy bed and to get away from our really inconsiderate neighbors who put their tent about 3 feet away from ours and had a dad who thought he knew everything and liked to loudly tell the rest of the world about it during all hours of the day and night. yea, I was a little annoyed...

Other than that we had a lot of fun. Highlights: Campfires, smores, pizza pudgy pies, cheese pudgy pies, blueberry pudgy pies, apples pudgy pies, playing Loaded Questions and answering everything with "Redheads", calling everyone a Sally, biking, golfing, sunburns, and being lazy!

I only had one incident with a spider. I was coming into my tent. I had just showered and was feeling great when I saw a spider on the top of our bed. We both froze and looked at each other for a minute or two. I am TERRIFIED of spiders btw. As a kid I always made Cari kill them for me and now make Justin or Zoey do it. Seeing as Justin was no where around, I decided I was going to put my big girl panties on and try and kill the thing. I scanned our tent to see what I could use. All I saw was a plastic Ziploc. I grabbed it, put it over the spider, shut my eyes and squeezed down. No luck. He had run away. Spider-1, Kristen-0. I tried to put him out of my mind and just continue to get ready. Luckily a few minutes later Justin came back, used his manly power, found spidey and killed him. Spider-0 Justin-1. I was so relieved.

Here's a couple pics from the weekend. The rest are posted on my website.

Camping Part I

This weekend we're going camping with some friends. Usually my idea of roughing it consists of staying over night at a Super 8. I can be a little bit girly when it comes to things like bugs/creepy crawlies, peeing in a pit, clean hands, and sleeping on hard uncomfortable surfaces. Luckily we found a place that looks pretty nice and has running water - showers even for a small fee. Since we are such avid campers, all we had was 2 sleeping bags and a pudgy pie maker. We went out and bought an aerobed (supposedly it's the best air mattress out there - I will give you the review later), bike rack, new bike tires, and my parents gave us their tent. Now we should be set!

Justin was making a list of things the other night that we need to bring. 3 pages later he thinks he has it all covered. How much stuff do 2 people need for 3 nights and 2 days? Luckily Ollie (my Outlander) has fold down seats and likes to be crammed full. It's going to be an interesting weekend, I can feel it all ready. Stories to come!

We had a big kickball game last night. The Brawling Ballers are undefeated! 4-0 Wooo Woooo! Sounds like we have a fun game next week that will hopefully involve some pre-game drinking. Go team!

No more sun?

We had everyone's favorite all staff meeting today at work. They announced that they are adding an addition onto our building. The addition looks super nice and I'm excited for it except for one small detail...they are removing my window since that's where the addition is going. I am kinda bumming. On days like today when it's sunny and cheerful looking it's so nice to take a mini-break and stare (longingly) outside for a few seconds. Sounds like this will be happening sooner rather than later, so I better start enjoying my view while I can. I guess now I have an excuse to visit the other side of my department!

Going Green

About a month ago I realized that I use a ridiculous amount of plastic silverware and Styrofoam cups at work. An average day I'd use 2-4 pieces of silverware and 1 cup. That may not seem like a ton, but if you add that up for 5 days a week, 4 weeks a month, etc. It gets to be a lot. Everyone been talking about "going green" so I though I should do my part too. I went out and bought 2 sets of silverware and brought in a bowl. I have to admit I have yet to use my bowl and am still using the Styrofoam cup, but I've been very diligent about the silverware. The other night as I was washing my silverware I started to think about all the water I am wasting doing this...and then about how many paper towels it takes me to dry everything. Am I really helping the environment more or just wasting different things now? I reasoned that plastic must be worse than Styrofoam and using too much water. Right?? I guess no one is perfect!

On another note, I have to give a shout out to my baby cousin who graduated from River Falls over the weekend! Way to go Cassie!!!! Seems like just yesterday you were chasing me around with barbies. Oh how time flies.

Here we go

I keep seeing friends who have blogs and I really enjoy reading them, but I was thinking I would wait to start one until I had kids and other fun things to update people on. Plus I also have a website, where I put all of our latest pictures and big exciting news. (Jovle.com for those of you who have never been) Then I thought more about it, decided kids aren't coming anytime soon and I am still fun... So, here we go. Welcome to my blog!!
