Old pic of Angie and I in Vegas.

Last week a group of work girls had a birthday happy hour. We started at Tuggs on their outdoor patio and then headed to the Shout House. Such a perfect night to be sitting outside.

Can't forget Kristen who turned 30 last weekend. Woo Hoo 30!!

Also in 2 days are Lori & Crystal's bdays.

Father Daughter Night

Cari and I took Ron to Canterbury Downs to watch some horse racing as our Father's Day event. None of us had ever been before, so it was a fun first time for all. Ron was the only one betting money but Cari and I helped him with the picks. Overall I think we only lost $4. Not bad for a night of racing. The last race Ron really wanted to pick a long shot, so I chose a horse for him. The horse shot out from the gate giving her a good head start. She had the lead until the final turn when another horse came from behind. They were neck and neck until the other horse pulled it out by a nose whisker at the end. I was bummed but a tiny bit excited at least she came close. So much for big winnings.

KC

I spent the past weekend in Kansas City with Lori and Kristen. We took a road trip down there for a girls weekend and had a fabulous time shopping, drinking, and eating. Not necessarily in that order. I think my favorite part was our Saturday afternoon happy hour at Figlios. We had a super funny, yet super gay bartender who seemed to be smitten with us. He had so many good quotes that we had to write them down. Maybe only funny to us, but here they are...

"It's good she is cute because she is not too bright!" - referring to me after I had asked what the "Ravs" on the menu were (ravioli apparently). Which then lead into, "Try your drink hottie." I think he was trying to get me to shut up and taste his special concoction.

Later when he was mixing us more drinks I told him I liked mine fruity, to which he replied, "[Dave & Matt] between the 2 of us there's enough fruit for everyone!" - that was him and one of the other waiters.

And my fav of the night, "Liquor before beer, served by a queer!" - Kristen and Lori were trying to figure out if they could drink beer after all the martinis.

Lori has all the pics of us and the bartender so here is one of us drinking the red wine martini sample. Very good!

LOVE!

As most of you know my favorite show of year has started - So You Think You Can Dance. Last week was the first week with the top 20. It was such an amazing show. I hope the rest of this season continues with the trend. Unfortunately YouTube seems to be all over the copyright stuff this year. Here's a clip of the top 20 doing there thing.

The best news is they are starting Season 6 in the fall. Although I'm going to have another dilemma of what shows to watch. I already have too many!

Happy 1st Birthday Izzy!!

This past weekend we went to WI to celebrate Izzy's 1st Bday. It's amazing how much bigger she's gotten! She's is such a little girl now with her curly hair and long legs. The day was perfect outside and the party was a success even with her feeling a little under the weather.

Izzy and Mama.

Hanging out with Auntie.

Such a fun ball to play with!

Of course she liked the hanger better than the present.

Deep fried and on a stick

It's the time of year all of us true Minnesotans dream of...new food at the State Fair is announced! I'm not quite as excited about them as I was last year. I mean really, how can you beat chocolate covered bacon? Here are 3 that caught my eye.

The Fry Dog - "...a hot dog with a very light corn/onion ring batter, rolls it in french fries and drops it in grease. If that's not enough, there's cheese sauce, ketchup, or ranch or chipotle sauces." Delish. A must try for me.

The Texas Tater Dog - "a German sausage poked through a spiral-cut spud" Sounds good but I think I'd rather try the Fry Dog.

And my favorite - "deep-fried Norwegian banana split — a banana rolled in lefse, deep fried and topped with ice cream, raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, whipped cream and nuts. " Gotta try this one too. My sweet tooth is calling!
(no pic of it)

Random Thoughts

2 random thoughts for the day:

Manicured hands make me feel so girly and proper. I love it! I wish I could have this look at the time. Unfortunately it doesn't go very well with my lifestyle...

Seeing as I missed National Best Friend's day yesterday I thought I should make up for it today. Cran, Brent and Mallory moved back to Prior Lake and now live less than 10 minutes from us. I am soooooooo very excited!! Last night we went over to check out the new place. Mallory gave us the grand tour. She was also as excited as I have ever seen her and talked a mile a minute. So cute!

Hip Hip Hurray Part II

I feel like I've been a little blog MIA. Last week was really busy at work and home. I'll try not to let it happen again!

Ran my 2nd 5K for the year today. This one was Abbie's choice and we did the Grand Old Day Race. The morning started out pretty crappy with the cold weather and light mist from the sky. Luckily as soon as our race started the mist stopped. Considering all of that we still had a really good turnout. Mary, Natalie, Adam, Abbie and her 2 friends all participated. And I can't forget our new 4 legged Hip Hip member. Yep that's right, Conner got to run the race with me too. Minus wanting to greet the other dogs along the way and 1 quick poop stop, he did great. I have to say between running with the dog and wearing our bright colored shirts, tons of random people were cheering us along. Plus we had Justin, Shannon, Mary's dad, My mom, and Ron along the race route. It was great! Thanks to all our cheerleaders and great job to everyone who ran!

Mary, Conner, and I at the beginning.

Conner and I on the last mile.

Right before the finish line. I am clearly looking at Adam on the sidelides. No wonder I didn't see Justin (who took the pic) when I passed him!

LOL

I got the cutest phone call today from my mom. She said she got an email from a guy she does work correspondence with but has never met. At the end of the email he put "lol" and they only lol term she knew was lots of love. She knew that couldn't be right so she called her "techy" daughter up for assistance. When I told her laugh out loud everything made more sense, although I think she was a little dissapointed she didn't have a secret admirer. ;) The best part was she made sure to write my definition so she wouldn't forget it in the future. Awwww. Love ya Mom!
