Aaron has been telling me about geocaching for quite awhile now and I've been really intrigued by it. For all of you who don't know what it is the geocaching.com gives a good description of it: "Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment." It's amazing how these caches are hidden everywhere. When you go on the website you can put in your address and locate them. I found a whole bunch within a few miles of my house!
Anyways, we've been waiting for the weather to get nice and this past weekend it finally did so Aaron & Maggie took Justin & I out for the afternoon. Our first step was to come up with a name. Justin thought of the NerdHerders from the show Chuck - one of our fav shows. Fitting in so many ways for us. :) We met Aaron & Maggie and headed to this park in Eagan because it had multiple caches there. I'm not going to go into every detail of all the caches but I did put all the pics up if you want to see them and Aaron blogged the day as well. We ended up finding 7 of them ranging from the size of a film case to the size of a big tackle box. A very fun day had by all!
A pic of our first cache. It was hidden up in that tree behind us. You had to use the stick to pull it down. Tricky!
