You know you love kickball when...

...your cold, your wet, and it's pouring rain. The ump wants to call the game and your captain is negotiating to keep playing with both teams yelling 1 more inning!!!! Ahhh the love of the sport. We had quite the game tonight. We played against a team that I used to be on a few years back. It was a fun rivalry and lots of trash talking. Unfortunately due to our awesome bloopers moves they pulled it out and beat us. We'll blame the rain on this one. :) The night even ended with some people running and sliding in the mud puddles. Wish we would've had the camera for that!

Mission Complete

I did it! I finally found what I was looking for. Albertville never seems to fail me. I was hoping for something with a little more color but at least it's not solid and paired with a bright tank it'll work just fine. SC here I come!

On a Mission

I'm trying to find some cute clothes to wear in South Carolina. I've heard they dress up a little more down there, so I thought a sun dress or some fun skirts would be perfect. I found a cute sundress but am having a hard time with the skirts. I have in my head exactly what I want, but I can't find it anywhere!!! It's about mid-thigh to a few inches above the knees in length. It's not high waisted. Has a ruffled edge to allow it to flow. And it has a fun summer pattern/colors. Something like these.

For the life of me I can't find this skirt!!! I've scoured Burnsville Mall AND Southdale. I even went so low as going to Delia's. Remember that place? Back when I was a teen it used to only be a catalogue. As soon as I stepped in there I immediately regretted it. I was double to triple the age of everyone in the store. As the 16 year old sales clerk explained all of their specials for that day, I fought every urge to turn and run out. After a quick loop around the store (no skirts), I hung my head in shame and left. At the other stores, all the skirts I found went up miles past my belly button, touch my knee or below, had hips that I can't come near to filling out, or were cute but $100+. No thanks!!

This weekend I am headed to Alberville. They have the only Petite Sophisticate around so I am hoping I can find something. Wish me luck. I'll report back soon...

Ice Cream Reminder

Ben & Jerry's free cone day is today! Check out their website to find your nearest location. Lucky for me the closest one is right across the street. I can see it out my window and know when the line is short it's time to go!

Hip Hip Hurray...

I did my first 5K!! A couple months ago a group at work decided to start a 5K club to help motivate everyone to get in shape. I've never been a big fan of running but thought it would be fun to join the group and something new for me to try. And what, do you ask, did we call the group? Hip Hip Hurray! We're doing a 5K! :) Complete with shirts and everything. 2 weeks ago, the first group started the season out and did a 2 mile run. This weekend we had our 2nd event. It was 5K and 10K held at Lake Phalen. Adam, the all star, did the 10K while Donella and I did the 5K. I wasn't sure how I would do but was able to run without stopping and get a 30 min 50 sec time. Pretty happy about that! Great job to everyone and thanks to our cheerleaders!!

The cheering squad.

Stretching before the race. It was COLD!!!

The final stretch.

Donella and I all recovered.

Plant Experiment Update

I've had a couple requests to see how well my plants have been doing. I have to say that I just might have a green thumb after all! This week I finally planted my 3rd flat. Most of it was flowers, but I also did watermelon, few more peppers, cilantro, & basil. I've been taking pics every week so next year I can remember the progress that was made. Here are some of the latest:

The green beans

Squash

Flat of vegetables

Flat of flowers

This weekend we are hoping to get the 2nd garden set up in the backyard, so when the weathers stays nice we can get these plants outside!

The End And A Beginning

This week was the last week of our bowling league. A little sad since I might not see Jayme/Bob/Eric again. But the end of bowling means the beginning of...

KICKBALL!!!

Tonight is our first game and we couldn't ask for better weather. We've entered into a new league this season: CSC. I've heard it's a little more competitive so I'm ready to bring it. Go Drunk Again And Looking To Score!

Geocaching

Aaron has been telling me about geocaching for quite awhile now and I've been really intrigued by it. For all of you who don't know what it is the geocaching.com gives a good description of it: "Geocaching is a high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a strong sense of community and support for the environment." It's amazing how these caches are hidden everywhere. When you go on the website you can put in your address and locate them. I found a whole bunch within a few miles of my house!

Anyways, we've been waiting for the weather to get nice and this past weekend it finally did so Aaron & Maggie took Justin & I out for the afternoon. Our first step was to come up with a name. Justin thought of the NerdHerders from the show Chuck - one of our fav shows. Fitting in so many ways for us. :) We met Aaron & Maggie and headed to this park in Eagan because it had multiple caches there. I'm not going to go into every detail of all the caches but I did put all the pics up if you want to see them and Aaron blogged the day as well. We ended up finding 7 of them ranging from the size of a film case to the size of a big tackle box. A very fun day had by all!

A pic of our first cache. It was hidden up in that tree behind us. You had to use the stick to pull it down. Tricky!

3 simple pleasures

After reading Angie's blog I've been thinking what I would say my top 3 simple pleasures are. It was really hard for me to come up with them. There are so many!!! These are my top 3...at least as of today:

1. Flip Flops. I had to stick with one of Angie's. I love not wearing socks. I love being able to take my shoes off easily so I can sit on my feet or sit cross legged (as I am right now). And what is more comfortable than a flip flop? NOTHING! So great.

2. The first sip of an ice cold Mt Dew from the can. OMG I can taste it right now. Mt Dew is the only non diet pop that I'll drink and it's soo worth it to me.

3. Getting off my Shakopee bus in the morning and seeing my SW bus sitting right behind waiting for me to get on and continue to the U. I get so bored having to wait for my next bus to come. It's especially bad when it's so cold out.

What are your 3 simple pleasures?

Redemption

After being defeated by that other puzzle, I had to start another to redeem my confidence. This one was a lot of fun and SOO much easier. It took about a month and I finished it over the weekend - minus the 2 pieces that Conner ate. Zoey and him conspire against me. Zoey pushes the pieces off the table and Conner disappears with them. Surprisingly this is the first puzzle where he actually ate some. Usually I find them in the other room. Kids!

Signs of Spring

Spring Fever was in the air at work today. After lunch, I was walking back from the rec with the sun shining on my face thinking how good Ben & Jerry's sounded. About an hour later I get an IM from Abbie who had the same thoughts so off we went for our first afternoon ice cream run! I highly recommend the new [at least new to me] Oatmeal Cookie Chunk. So good!! And to anyone who hasn't heard Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day is Tuesday April 21st. Just another sign that spring is around the corner.

Good Bye and Good Riddance!

I think I've made it pretty clear that I'm not a fan of March (besides of course the Shamrock Shakes which I'm sad to see go since I only had 2 all month!), so you can understand how happy I am to see that April is here!! Bring on those showers, wash away all of the sand/grim on the streets, and let the plants start budding! Think that will actually happen soon? One can hope.

It wouldn't be April first without my step dad trying to pull a prank on me. I don't remember ever falling for any of his pranks but I'm sure at some point in my life I did so he continues to keep trying. I got into work this morning and right away got an IM from him asking if Cari (sister) had told me the news. I played stupid and said I had no idea what he was talking about. He replies to me, "Aunt Kristen?" I didn't give him the satisfaction of going any farther and told him I was onto him. Good to know some things will never change.
